Many thanks to Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) for organising a wonderful and insightful agenda this week in Hawaii. On Sunday, 21st January, ICPC General Manager Ryan Wopschall and ICPC Executive Committee Member Simon Webster, were part of the very well-attended panel session titled: “Submarine Cable: Sniffing Around a Sensitive Subject.” Please reach out to [email protected] for any follow-up panel enquiries. Also, as part of the submarine cables poster session, ICPC presented: “Volcanic Hazards for Submarine Cables: Lessons Learned from the 2022 Hunga Volcano Eruption.” This detailed and informative poster was co-authored by ICPC Marine Environmental Adviser Michael Clare and his colleague Isobel Yeo at the National Oceanography Centre, ICPC Vice Chair Dean Veverka, and Semisi Panuve from Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association. Pictured to the left of the poster is Brian Lavallée (from ICPC Member organisation Ciena) who contributed to the conversation regarding the poster’s “hot topic.”
