What do residents think about persons with mental health conditions in Singapore? 🤔 The 2021 study by NCSS on Public Attitudes towards Persons with Mental Health Conditions revealed that stigma and misconception persist despite overall improvements in public perception. For instance, 1/4 of respondents attribute mental health conditions to a lack of self-discipline and willpower. Let's work together to change such perceptions! 📊 Ready to dive deeper? NCSS had the honour of presenting our Sector Evaluation Framework (SEF) at the Social-Economic Nexus Speaking Engagement Series (SENSES), hosted by the Civil Service College on 8 May! Our Research Specialist, Ellysya Lee, shared insights on how the SEF promotes consistency in outcome evaluation through the use of standardised and validated metrics across programmes with similar objectives. NCSS is always glad to have the opportunity to learn from our overseas counterparts. Thank you to the Hong Kong Council of Social Service! We look forward to many more learning opportunities together in the future. ✨
Grateful to the The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) 香港社會服務聯會 (社聯) for inviting and hosting us at the S+ Summit and Expo 2024. Thank you to Bernard Charnwut Chan and Hoi Wai Chua, and your team at HKCSS for the kind hospitality. We appreciated the opportunity to learn from your experience and to strengthen the friendship between HKCSS and Singapore’s National Council of Social Service (NCSS). So many of our challenges and problems are common, even as we embrace slightly different approaches to address them! On our short trip, we also had good meetings with Social Ventures Hong Kong where Francis Ngai and his team are doing inspiring work with local communities, and Mind HK 香港心聆 ‘s Candice Powell and her team are supporting people with anxiety and depression in Hong Kong. (We couldn’t leave without sampling Hong Kong’s steamed milk pudding… twice!)
